Volunteer of the Year – Jae Gray

Jae Gray - Volunteer of the Year

Jae Gray first saw the impact of The Children’s Place when they were working as a Jackson County foster care case manager early in their career. They told us about one particular memory, connecting two preschool-aged boys with our services then watching them experience transformational healing.

“As a survivor of profound trauma, I know that the children and families who enter our doors can have abundant lives on the other side of the extremely difficult work it takes to heal,” Jae told us. “Volunteering at The Children’s Place allows me to show up for my neighbors and for my younger self, trusting that we can find safety in ourselves and each other.”

Eventually joining the Young Ambassador Board, Jae is currently serving their fourth term and has stepped up as Co-Chair this year. Jae also serves as the Young Ambassador Board representative on our Board of Directors’ People & Culture Committee, helping shape cultural decisions for the agency as a whole.

“Jae’s leadership and impact on The Children’s Place have been truly extraordinary,” said Ashley Thorpe, Special Events Manager and staff liaison to the Young Ambassador Board. “Jae’s passion shines through in every event they support and every initiative they lead.”

Jae has connected The Children’s Place with MOJO Cycling Studio, who have generously hosted classes with proceeds benefiting The Children’s Place. In 2026 Mojo has selected The Children’s Place as their selected nonprofit partner of MOJO RISE 2026 because of Jae’s influence and passion for the cause.

Jae has also collaborated with board members and other Young Ambassador Board members on a volunteer advocacy committee, helping strengthen The Children’s Place’s relationships with elected officials.

“It is such a joy to see Jae bring their favorite communities together. This is advocacy as its very best, and we are incredibly proud of them.”

The Volunteer of the Year Award will be awarded at the Gratitude Bruncheon on August 27. Meet the other honorees of Gratitude Bruncheon 2026 here.
