Sponsor Our Food Pantry for a Month

For just $2,000, you can ensure that the children we serve have plenty of food to eat all month long!

Every day the children in our Day Treatment program receive breakfast, lunch and a snack while they are at The Children’s Place. To ensure they have plenty of food to eat all weekend long, we also send home a backpack full of child-friendly, nonperishable food each Friday.

Our food pantry is stocked by generous donations from our community. We are looking for companies, families, community groups, or anyone interested to become a food pantry sponsor for one month at a time.

What Food Goes In a Backpack?

We send home approximately 50 backpacks full of food each week (200 per month). It costs roughly $10 to fill each backpack full of:

1 dinner combination (Tuna Helper with can of tuna OR pasta meal starter and can of chicken OR package of spaghetti and can of pasta sauce OR package of Mexican rice and can of black beans)
1 packaged carb (rice packet, mashed potatoes, etc.)
1 can of soup or ramen
1 can veggies
2 breakfast items (oatmeal, individual cereal, package of Pop Tarts)
1 pudding cup or Rice Krispie treat
1 fruit cup or applesauce
2 individual packages of crackers (Goldfish, Cheez-Its, pretzels, etc.)
2 granola bars or Nutri-grain bars (nut-free)
2 fruit snacks

How to Sponsor the Food Pantry

It’s easy to become a food pantry sponsor! Plan to cover the $2,000 cost by:

Providing a monetary donation of $2,000 and we will do the shopping for you!
Shop for the food yourself based on the specific shopping list we provide or through our Amazon Wish List.

Volunteer in the Food Pantry

Food pantry sponsors also have the option to volunteer for the month that you sponsor the food pantry. Backpacks are usually packed on Thursdays at 10 am and 1-3 people can participate each week. This opportunity lasts approximately an hour. This can be a one-time commitment for the month or every Thursday of the month. This is open to volunteers ages 13 or older as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
