Laura Jones

Laura Jones

From hosting large events in her home to pushing the lunch carts down the hall to our classrooms, there’s no task too large or small for Laura Jones. Starting as a member of our Angel Board and now serving on the Board of Directors, Laura has been a fixture of The Children’s Place for years, serving as a generous leader and helping with so many aspects of our mission.

Truly walking the walk, Laura is always one of the first to volunteer for whatever needs to get done, even the less noticeable tasks. One night recently, Laura was at The Children’s Place for our open house event and noticed that our cook Alida Williams was working late to complete her required CPR training online. Laura, a former nurse, immediately stepped in to help Alida, sharing her knowledge and helping illustrate the concepts. Laura was one of the last in the building that evening, then arrived early the next morning to help cover the kitchen so that Alida could complete the test.

“I cannot think of a single event or job at The Children’s Place that has meant more to me than just getting to be a small part of all of it!” Laura told us. “I love being with the kiddos, love our events, and love, love, love the staff! I feel honored to be able to spend time watching and learning from these incredible people. The children feel it too. The magic that happens here fills me with awe each time I’m at the agency.”

Laura worked closely with last year’s Advocate for Hope honoree Ann Tinsman to create a new vision for the Angel Board’s annual event in 2013, transitioning the Angel’s Luncheon to the Angel’s Gala, an evening event that takes the form of Party for The Place now. Now on our Board of Directors, Laura helps guide the overall vision of The Children’s Place on our oversight board.

Laura will be recognized at the Gratitude Bruncheon on Wednesday, August 30. Learn more about our other honorees who will be celebrated at the Gratitude Bruncheon here.
