One of our largest supporters, The Children’s Services Fund of Jackson County (CSF) has committed more than $3.2 million to The Children’s Place since 2018, an extraordinary investment in the healing and well-being of our community’s most vulnerable children.
The CSF was approved by voters in 2016 and established by a county ordinance the following year, with a mission of investing in children through the financial support of mental health and prevention services. Funded by taxpayers in Jackson County through a ¼ cent sales tax, the CSF has awarded over $185 million to local organizations like The Children’s Place over the last eight years.
“The work being done at The Children’s Place is fully aligned with our mandate to fund mental health services for children,” said Rob Whitten, Chief Executive Officer of CSF. “But it’s more than that. Our goal is to fund quality, responsive services that are impactful. That are done with a focus on evidence and outcomes. That are equitable in their approach. The Children’s Place delivers in all those areas.”
Rob mentioned that one highlight of CSF’s relationship with The Children’s Place has been providing funding the cost of providing therapy services through The Children’s Place on Wheels, our new mobile mental health unit in a retrofitted minibus. Thanks to the Fund’s generosity, children can receive therapy on-site at early education centers and schools at no cost to their families.
“The Children’s Place is just that…a place for children. A place they can heal. A place they can grow. A safe place. We are so honored to play a small role in the work they do,” Rob said.
