Emerging Philanthropists of the Year

Eliza Berg, Macy Crosser, Maeve Donovan, Kate Ellis, Andrew Kim, Kate Schirger & Brady Symon

Former leaders of our Teen Board, these passionate young people shared their leadership and enthusiasm to provide guidance for the other teen volunteers while making a difference for children at The Children’s Place.

Now scattered throughout the country finishing their first year of college, Eliza Berg, Macy Crosser, Maeve Donovan, Kate Ellis, Andrew Kim, Kate Schirger and Brady Symon helped lead our Teen Board throughout their high school years. Through food and diaper drives, playground volunteer days, holiday gift drives and more, these dedicated volunteers consistently stepped up to make a difference for the children and families we serve while also setting an inspiring example for younger volunteers.

Teen Board holiday mart“A highlight of my time on the Teen Board were the holiday activities that we hosted for the children to help pick out gifts for their families,” said Eliza Berg. “These activities are fun and meaningful to me and the kids. All kids are special and deserve happiness in life, so it feels good to help those who have suffered and to bring them joy.”

The Children’s Place’s Teen Board is one of our auxiliary boards and features high school students who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of local children. Through service projects throughout the year, the Teen Board members have the opportunity to learn more about The Children’s Place, philanthropy and service.

“This class of Teen Board leaders truly rose above and beyond, setting an incredible example for the younger members of the Board,” said Christina Ocaña-Wilson, Volunteer & Stewardship Coordinator who oversees the Teen Board. “We’re so grateful for their dedication to the work we do here at The Children’s Place and all the many ways they have made a difference for the children and families we serve.

The Emerging Philanthropists of the Year Award will be awarded at the Gratitude Bruncheon on Thursday, June 6. Learn more about our other honorees who will be celebrated at the Gratitude Bruncheon here.
